…if you grant me that life can be thought of in stages, chapters, or leaves, then I am turning/ entering/ chasing a new one. my gypsy childhood, tumultous teens, and searching twenties are disappearing. who will I become next? what happens in chapter four?
I started blogging in the summer of 2007 as a way for my mom to keep tabs on me when I moved from the east coast to California for graduate school. The title originated from my thinking on how turning thirty, and moving to a new city, was like ending one chapter and beginning another. Since starting this blog I have received lots of encouraging feedback and find creative, political and emotional expression in this forum.
This blog is a hodge-podge of things that interest me… the inner workings of my crowded brain, you might say. I am a doctoral candidate who looks at issues around immigration and schooling, as such, much of the news and activism I present will cover those subjects. Check those pages frequently for updates. In addition, I am a lover of language and beauty, hence, I present pieces of writing that move me in on the poetry page and in the Thoughts on Faith series.
Finally, as an educator, I believe that life is a dialogue. As such, I welcome feedback on this space and thank you sharing this process with me.
